At times it might resemble a giant Meccano set but Rotorua’s outstanding new community  facility, the Energy Events Centre, is taking form quickly on its Government Gardens site, with new signs of progress appearing every day.

With structural steel work completed for the complex’s Bay of Plenty Community Trust Forum area, attention now focuses on the structure for the even larger Unison Arena space.  Several bays are already locked into place but with the Arena being more than three and a half times the size of the Forum, making progress swiftly is important.

Rotorua District Council’s project team anticipates that around 75% of the Arena structure will be in place by the end of February, with the balance due for completion around mid March. As the roof trusses are completed, the catwalk on the underside of the roof will also be lifted carefully into place and will be another clearly visible sign of progress for visitors to the site to see.
