The Rotorua District Council (RDC), in association with the Trust and other Rotorua Partners, is launching the Energy Events Centre Public Fundraising Campaign on Wednesday [May 10].
Nick Dallimore, Energy Events Centre fund raising manager, said the Name Your Seat project offers people the opportunity to have their individual, family or company name and logo printed onto a metal plaque fixed to a Unison Arena stand seat.
“The feedback on the project has been really positive and incredibly supportive. People find it quite exciting that they can have something of theirs in the building.”
Wristbands will be available to help fundraising and to get the community involved. They will be obtainable from the council, library, City Focus and other partner locations for donations of $3.
Mr Dallimore said the wristbands are fun, really simple and allow people to be involved in the project.
“We want people to be visual with them. We want to be able to walk through town and see people wearing them, proud to be supporting the Energy Events Centre.”
Proceeds from the community fundraising campaign of the Energy Events Centre project will go towards extra items of fit-out for the facility and will directly enhance community use.
The website www.thespirit.co.nz will go live on Wednesday 10th May, and will have information on the different projects that the community can participate in over the next six months.
