Interest in Rotorua’s Energy Events Centre is very high at this week’s convention and exhibition industry expo, Meeting 2006, in Christchurch.

Diana Moore, Event Venues sales and marketing manager, said the industry has been making a beeline to the Energy Events Centre booth to find out more about the new complex.

“A lot of interest has been registered in booking future conferences and exhibitions and we have some excellent leads to follow up on.”

The Energy Events Centre booth, co-ordinated by Mrs Moore and Event Venues operations manager Joelene Elliott, replicates a construction site look, in keeping with the facility currently being built behind the museum in Government Gardens.

A large photograph of the Energy Events Centre under construction is being used as a backdrop, and staff are wearing construction workers’ uniforms, including hard hats and safety vests.

Meetings 2006 started on Wednesday morning and involves continuous 15 minute appointment sessions with conference and events organisers from New Zealand and overseas throughout the day. It concludes on Thursday evening.

“Our appointment stream has been very busy and our attendance at Meetings 2006 is proving to be an excellent investment for profiling our venues and for promoting Rotorua as a conference and exhibition venue,” says Mrs Moore.
