It’s official. Rotorua’s new Energy Events Centre is amongst the top conference and events facilities in the country, and it now has a ‘4 Star Plus’ Qualmark rating to prove it.

Event Venues general manager, Peter McLeod, says their team is very pleased to achieve such a high rating in their first ever Qualmark assessment.

Celebrating the Energy Events Centre's awarding of a '4 Star Plus' Qualmark rating this week are:
(L - R) Crispian Stewart (Event Venues Operations Manager), Diana Moore (Event Venues Sales & Marketing Manager),
Elsa Bradbury (Energy Events Centre Manager), Peter McLeod (Event Venues General Manager)
& Craig Elder (Energy Events Centre Food & Beverages Manager).

“It gives us an official and independent stamp of quality that will provide a further boost to our marketing efforts.

“It’s a great endorsement of the huge undertaking by the Rotorua District Council, Rotorua Trust and other partners to ensure the finished complex achieved very high standards. And clearly those standards have been proven to be amongst the best in New Zealand.”

Qualmark, the New Zealand tourism industry’s highly regarded quality assessment agency, awarded the ‘Four Star Plus’ rating to the Energy Events Centre after evaluating the venue across a number of areas. They included convention and meeting facilities, food and beverage, service and hospitality, overall aspect and appearance, cleanliness, public areas, business practices and environmental responsibility.

Mr McLeod said Qualmark assessors were particularly impressed with the decor in the Grand Hall, including the carved doors, feature walls and illuminated pou. The lakeside setting and location within Government Gardens was also given the thumbs up, he said.

“We also retained a ‘Four Star’ Qualmark rating for the Rotorua Convention Centre, which is great news for Rotorua and our conference and events industry. It means we can continue to market the two venues hand-in-hand and confidently promote them as top quality facilities. It gives us another important piece of ammunition in our battle for Rotorua to become the country’s top events destination,” said Mr McLeod.
