Marketing is well underway to build a national and international profile for Rotorua's new Energy Events Centre, currently being constructed in Government Gardens near the city's Museum of Art and History.

Driving the marketing activities is Event Venues' sales and marketing manager, Diana Moore, who says the interest nationwide has been very encouraging to date.

"Event Venues' team has already been spreading the word at special promotions in Auckland and Melbourne, with Wellington based national associations being targeted at another promotion in November. Many organisations are telling me they definitely need larger well equipped meeting facilities for their conferences - something currently only available in the major metropolitan centres."

Last week Diana Moore and Event Venues' general manager Peter McLeod, hosted key conference industry players to dinner at the Rotorua Business Excellence Awards. They included CINZ (Conventions & Incentives NZ) CE Alan Trotter, Air New Zealand's Desiree Doyle and professional conference organisers from Auckland and Hamilton.

"It gave us the chance to showcase the Southern Trust Sportsdrome, the venue for the awards dinner, while it was elaborately decorated, and to update our guests on the Rotorua Convention Centre, development plans for the Energy Events Centre, and the latest on Rotorua as a conference destination," said Ms Moore. "I'm pleased to report our important guests were very impressed with Rotorua and especially with our plans for the Energy Events Centre."

This week Diana Moore will be waving the flag for Rotorua and the Energy Events Centre in Queenstown at the convention industry’s national conference.
