Yes, he’s coming back! The world’s number one comedian, Billy Connolly, last played Rotorua in a hilarious sold-out concert at the Sportsdrome five years ago, and on 21 February next year he’s back in town for one concert in the Unison Arena at the Energy Events Centre.
Events & Venues Rotorua general manager, Peter Mcleod, said it will be wonderful to welcome Billy back to Rotorua where he has always been a crowd favourite. However he warned people to get in fast and book tickets as they are expected to sell out quickly due to the Scottish entertainer’s enormous popularity.
Connolly remains one of the few superstars who can lay claim to selling out just about every venue he performs in. In 2004 all 24 New Zealand shows sold out a matter of days after going on sale.
In 2009 he has time for just 19 shows on his tour of the country and he has again chosen to come to Rotorua.
Connolly’s politically incorrect, no-nonsense, no-interval show, positions him as the undisputed world’s number one comedian. Nothing escapes his interest or notice - especially bureaucracy, PC people, bores, latecomers, New Zealand drivers and people who wear beige!
Tickets are $89.90 and $99.90, and go on sale on Thursday [6 November] at the Convention Centre’s Ticketmaster box office in Rotorua, or online via www.ticketmaster.co.nz .
